After 44-day war and trespassing of Armenia's border in 2021 by Azerbaijan army, catchment basins of rivers in several communities in Gegharkunik region have been under control of Azerbaijan army or in a neutral zone, making it nearly impossible for the community residents or the municipalities to clean the basins for usage. Another problematic issue is that in some communities water is provided through pipes dating back to Soviet times. These are worn out pipes and therefore cause discontent of residents regarding cleanliness of water. There are issues with irrigation water as well, since those living near the water use it abundantly depriving other residents living further from water.
We decided to visit some of these communities to understand the situation. The full article is available here (in Armenian).
