Within the project COVID-19: Civil Society Resilience and Sustainability “Green Armenia” Environmental Educational NGO implemented training-discussion on the topic of Environmental Protection and Human Rights in Yeghegnadzor and Jermuk enlarged communities of Vayots Dzor. The guest lecturer was expert in ecological rights, lawyer Nazeli Vardanyan. She introduced the participants with number of interrelated rights enshrined in Armenia's Constitution, such as
-Property rights,
- Right to protection,
- Right to compensation,
- Right to freedom of speech and to protests
- Right to participation in decision making processes,
- Right to access of information,
- Right to public scrutiny.
During the lively discussion participants learned about environmental issues in Armenia, received answers to their questions, as well as got introduced with the activities of Green Armenia NGO.
The project COVID-19: Civil Society Resilience and Sustainability is implemented by ERIM International French non-commercial organization and Human Rights House Yerevan with the financial support of the European Union in Armenia. The goal of the project is to promote sustainability of civil society in countries of Eastern Partnership for mitigating the immediate and longer-term impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
